About "The AI Journalist"

AI has long been a part of everyday media life. It appears in newsrooms, in research, in finding topics, in writing - often tried out, sometimes used, rarely systematically.

This is exactly where The AI Journalist comes in.

I started this project because I felt something was missing for a long time regarding artificial intelligence in journalism and the media industry: concrete, honest, and practical guidance. Not the next hype debate, but answers to the question: What helps me in my daily work – and what doesn't?

Why The AI Journalist exists

Since the beginning of 2023, I have been intensively involved with the use of AI in journalism and media. The widespread availability of tools like ChatGPT made one thing clear: there is plenty of information about AI. What's missing is its application in everyday journalistic and media practice.

Many media professionals are already using AI - but often without a clear structure, without fixed workflows and with justified uncertainty regarding questions of quality, responsibility and limits.

The AI Journalist is my attempt to close precisely this gap: with classification, with concrete examples and with practical instructions that prove their worth in everyday professional life.

Workshops & Training

Once a month, I offer open online workshops on varying topics related to AI and media. These workshops are practical, easy to understand, and aimed at journalists, freelance media professionals, and newsrooms.

Furthermore, I also work with teams and organizations that want to integrate AI into their workflows in a structured way.

AI as a tool, not as a replacement

I am convinced that AI will not replace journalists and media professionals. But it will change our work – and it will benefit those who use it responsibly and competently.

Used correctly, AI can free up time: for research, for conversations, for stories with substance. That's precisely the goal of The AI Journalist.

About me

My name is Patrick Große, and I'm a news journalist at Deutsche Welle. I also completed my international editorial traineeship there. In 2024, I was named one of the "Top 30 Under 30" journalists by medium magazin.

My focus is on the practical application of AI in journalism - especially on prompting, workflows and the question of how AI can be meaningfully integrated into editorial processes.

The AI Journalist is my personal project. The paid offers rely on you working directly with me and benefiting from my experience – not on automated courses or anonymous content.

If you have any questions, would like to give feedback, or are simply curious, I would be happy to hear from you.

Patrick
