Workshops
I regularly offer practical online workshops on artificial intelligence in journalism and media. Once a month, there is an open workshop on a different topic, which can be booked by individuals.
Furthermore, I design customized workshops and training courses for editorial teams, media companies, organizations, and businesses. These offerings are tailored to the specific workflows, questions, and prior knowledge required.
All workshops are based on my journalistic practice and focus on concrete applications, understandable explanations and direct exchange.
Interested in a workshop for your team, your editorial staff, or for yourself? Send me an email and we can discuss the details in a free introductory meeting. I offer workshops in German, English and French.
My workshops are designed as regular, practical training for journalists and media professionals who want to meaningfully integrate artificial intelligence into their daily work.
Once a month, I offer an open online workshop after work on a specific topic related to AI and media. Each workshop focuses on a different aspect – for example, research with AI, prompting for everyday editorial work, workflows for writing and editing, or dealing with new AI developments in journalism.
The topics change deliberately. The aim is to address current issues and to explain AI not abstractly, but in relation to concrete journalistic tasks.
The workshops are held in German.
How the workshops are structured
The workshops are designed to be understandable without prior technical knowledge and to be directly applied to one's own work.
They typically include:
- a brief overview of the respective topic
- concrete examples and applications from journalistic practice
- practical prompts, workflows and procedures
- Space for questions, exchange and discussion
It is important to me that the workshops are not lectures. Personal interaction and the opportunity to ask your own questions are an integral part of every session.
Who the workshops are intended for
The open workshops are aimed at:
- freelance journalists
- Editors
- media professionals
- all those who regularly work as journalists and want to use AI effectively
Whether you are just starting out with AI or have already gained experience: the goal is to structure, deepen, and more confidently apply existing knowledge.
Booking & Participation
The monthly workshops are open to the public. For non-members, they cost 79 euros for two hours.
Members also benefit from:
- Plus members receive a discounted price and pay 20 percent less, i.e. 63 euros.
- Ultra members can participate at no additional cost.
The workshops take place online. Recordings are usually available afterwards.
Exchange instead of standard format
The AI Journalist views workshops not as standardized courses, but as a dynamic format that adapts to the questions of the participants. My own experience from everyday journalism is incorporated, as well as current developments and feedback from the community.
An overview of upcoming workshops and dates will soon be available on this page.
The basics
Not every newsroom has yet embraced AI. Many remain very skeptical of the technology. Therefore, it is advisable to first offer basic training to all colleagues.
The following areas are covered in 2-8 hour basic workshops:
How does AI work?
What impact do the training data have on the AI?
How do I formulate a good prompt?
Where in my work and workflow can AI help?
How can AI be used in journalism?
What are the most common AI tools?
What are the legal and ethical conflicts associated with the use of AI?
For advanced users
Those who master the fundamentals can explore specific areas of journalism or media. We offer customized workshops covering the various stages of journalistic and media production. The workshops range from two hours to several days, depending on the team's needs.
The following aspects are the focus of further workshops:
How can AI be used in research?
How can AI be used in the preparation and follow-up of interviews?
How can AI be used in production?
In what ways can AI simplify my daily work?
How can AI be used in science journalism?
How does AI help us with the approval and optimization of texts?
Special focus
AI is changing every day. That's why we at The AI Journalist are prepared for every new development. We also look at specific areas of journalism and media. For example, we offer workshops on using AI in constructive journalism. We work with the Bonn Institute for Constructive Journalism on this.
Do you have a particular area of interest or a specific request for a workshop? Then send me an email and we can discuss it!
